Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by the Brooke and the Bookish. This week's list is of the top ten books I'd give to someone who has never read a kind of book, of my choice. I picked Fantasy.
1. "The Lord of the Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien
2. "The Harry Potter Series" by J.K. Rowling
3. "Stardust" by Neil Gaiman
4. "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende
5. "The Golem and the Jinni" by Helene Wecker
6. "The Inkheart Trilogy" by Cornelia Funke
7. "Artemis Fowl" by Eoin Colfer
8. "Power of Three" by Diana Wynne Jones
9. "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan
10. "The Last Dragonslayer" by Jasper Fforde
What about you? What books would you give to readers who have never read a particular kind of book?
Great list! :) I'm ashamed to say I haven't read The Lord of the Rings yet, but I want to try and cross it off my TBR this year! I'm really eager to read The Golem and the Jinni, too - it sounds so original!
ReplyDeleteI love The Hobbit best, I think. And Wrinkle in Time!
ReplyDeleteHere's my list of nonfiction you can't resist!
I gave up on The Lord of the Rings! I just couldn't get into it. I much preferred the movies. ;) I've heard quite a bit of The Golem and the Jinni, though I haven't read it. I must check that one out. :)
ReplyDeleteAww, I've only read the Harry Potter series. But you've got some interesting titles here. I've also never read Rick Riordan. Thanks for sharing though.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT
I'm not often a fantasy reader, but I do want to check out some of the books you've got on your list!
ReplyDeleteI don't consider myself much of a fantasy fan, but I have read almost all of these books! I guess I am!
ReplyDeleteSo many great ones on your list. Big yes to #2,4 & 9! Although I tried I could never get into Lord of the Rings or Inkheart.

The Golem and the Jinni has been on my must read list for far too long. I really need to get my hands on that book. lol I'm a huge fan of Percy and Harry and LOTR as well..really need to check out the rest of these. Fabulous list!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've read quite a few of the books on your list. LOTR was pretty amazing, though incredibly long. I haven't read it in so long that it's probably time I read it again. I've read quite a few of Dianna Wynne Jone's books, but I haven't read The Power of Three, and now I really want to read it. I wonder if my library has it. I think my favourite of her books is Enchanted Glass. Have you read that one?
ReplyDeleteI haven't, actually, even though it looks really good!
DeleteYay for fantasy! I haven't read the Percy Jackson series, unfortunately, but I definitely agree with The Golem and the Jinni and Inkheart!
ReplyDeleteLovely list! I'm very behind on my Fantasy reading so I appreciate you steering me in the right direction. I hear good things about The Lightning Thief series.
ReplyDeleteI really think you nailed this list. I'm not generally much of a fantasy reader, but there are a few on this list I read (and loved) and several others that I've actually added to my TBR list, despite my general antipathy to the genre. So well done! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome list! I would definitely add Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss to a list like this because their stories kind of give me (as a reader) this sense of adventure that I don't find often in fantasy books. :)
